“There are countless reasons not to do, or to stop.”

“THERE ARE COUNTLESS REASONS NOT TO DO, OR TO STOP.”

For us to truly experience liberation from suffering, self-observation and self-inquiry are essential.

This continues unchanged even after the spiritual awakening event of transcending duality.

“Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.” -Zen Proverb-

However, there are countless reasons we unconsciously apply to not do them, or to stop doing them.

“It’s not the right time yet.”

“I’m busy right now.”

“I’m afraid, so I can’t do it.”

“I’m trying, but I’m not good at it.”

“I’m already doing them, so I’m okay.”

“Surely someone who is amazing will make me realize something important.”

“Surely that’s not what I should be doing in this lifetime.”

“I’ve awakened, so I don’t need to do anything anymore.”

However, for example, if someone comes to you and tells you, “You are __,” if you are not prepared to face that truth, then those words might be nothing more than nonsense for you at all, or you who have strong anxiety might use those words for a fantasy for self-escapism, or you might feel like be forcing a truth on you that you don’t want to see yet.

And so, we can always create another “reason not to do it, or another reason to stop.”

Liberation or enlightenment comes not by increasing spiritual knowledge or immersing oneself in some spiritual action. Although these are meaningful for becomeing aware of doership of the mind (ego) and by no means useless, but they have unavoidable of pitfalls. Until reaching that awareness, there can be always very high potential to reinforce the ego and leads to unconscious arrogance without realizing it, and that is a very common and inevitable stream caused self-concept based on identification with the mind (ego).

Instead, it requires continuous and pure self-observation without doership of the mind (ego), and moreover, not just simply observing oneself, but also seeing through the roots of each and every assumption, belief, or reaction of oneself, while embracing what one observes as it is.

And this is something each and every one of us must do by ourselves.

No one can change our way of being, and no one can give us to be enlightened.

Furthermore, this is the “service” that should be our highest priority in life.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

The important key points to remember here are that this “service” is not an obstacle to be overcome in one’s life, nor is it something that one does for someone as an individual being, including oneself, nor is it something that one overcomes to achieve something.

This is because, with each “awareness,” by deepening self-inquiry from there and uncovering its roots, we unintentionally dismantle and let go of our own unconscious very identification with the “personal self,” the mind (ego), that is the source of our preconceptions, beliefs, attachments, or reactions.

Furthermore, the series of stream that begins with this “awareness” never ends, that is, this “knowing thyself” always holds infinite possibilities.

And in this series of stream, illusions of the mind (ego) such as “I’m doing this” or “I’m becoming someone” steadily cease one by one.

In this way, awareness becomes aware something, and each time its root is uncovered, a new liberation spontanously comes to occure. This endless stream is the very manifestation of the magnificent, profound, and sacred infinite possibilities of impersonal, omnipresent consciousness, as a pure play and experiment as “The Self-Rediscovery.”

First, stop and be still.

Observe yourself.

Don’t be distracted by thoughts and emotions.

For example, don’t let the known, such as spiritual teachings, or old pattern, get in the way of knowing yourself (something like, don’t escape into thoughts like “I already know” or “I can’t do this”; even if you do, don’t deny that fact, embrace it as it is).

Detach from the mind-conscious of being the doer, such as “I am doing” or “achieving” something.

Always remain thoroughly sincere and humble to the essence, not to the “personal self” or someone else.

And remain an endless, pure interest and curiosity in “existence” itself through learning about yourself. (OM 🙏)
