“THE IGNORANT VS. THE SAGE”

As long as awareness remains fixated on outward appearances under the influence of identification with the mind (“I,” thoughts, the ego), it carries the risk of easily falling into “spiritual bypassing.” This is triggered by a strong desire to “become (be) someone,” which arises from the sense that “I” am lacking for the existence, and often leads one to become addicted to the idea that “I already ‘know.’” Consequently, awareness becomes unable to recognize the fact that, in reality, “I” know nothing.

Driven by an intense fear of facing “I-self” due to identification with a narrative of the “I” and unconscious attachment to the past unsublimated pain, awareness fails to even recognize the necessity of constant observing the very “mind” it habitually identify as I’s “self,” or of exploring the source of it.

Consequently, the “I” unconsciously come to trivialize truth into mere concepts and shallow words because it is just constructed by hodgepodge of thoughts, memories, emotions, or etc., which means it cannot have direct, experiential understanding, such as virtuous action, love, and oneness—which, through pure awareness in the non-duality, they are realized effortlessly.

In doing so, the mind (the “I,” thought, the ego) becomes increasingly fixated on “doingness” rather than “beingness”, and persists in I-self-deception by using spirituality for bypassing, while coming to demand superficial doingness, without realizing it, from people such as righteous conduct, noble behavior.

This is one pattern of unconscious awareness in ignorance, caused by its identification with the narrative of the “I-self.”

“As above, so below.”
“As within, so without.”

A sage, however, is one who effortlessly abides in impersonal awareness, pure presence, without a doer, which knows that “I do not know” and simultaneously “it knows everything” as pure awareness—who has realized, through direct experience and constant self-observing and self-inquiry, that there is no such thing as a “self” that acts as a subject of “knowing” or as a doer of “achievement.”

Delve ever deeper—piercing through, transcending the powerful barriers of the mind (the “I,” thoughts, and the ego) without effort or intention but through clarity of the innermost stillness—until awareness suddenly recalls the very source of all things, The Self as Oneness.

To the non-duality, which is no narrative of the “I,” no owner, indivisible and inseparable from everything else, timeless, and spaceless as wholeness.

Most importantly, what we are here is to humbly realize the truth that the awareness is oneness itself, which transcends all of duality, is never lost, ever-present, and always and already perfect, which nothing needs to be added or subtracted.

Thus, enlightenment is never by the “I” and also not for the separated “us” at all. (OM 🙏)
