“The ego clad in a spiritual identity”

“THE EGO CLAD IN A SPIRITUAL IDENTITY”

As a final survival strategy, the ego often adopts a spiritual identity, behaving as if “I” have attained an understanding of non-duality or oneness as truth.

Yet, regardless of the identity it assumes, it remains nothing more than a deception; the ego stays the ego.

There is no truth in this.

In such cases, the ego frequently employs catchy slogans—such as an “ideal” human conduct—or secondhand spiritual wisdom to maintain the illusion that it is “someone.” (The individual, firmly believing they are someone, is entirely unaware that they are merely putting on an act.)

Often, while the ego focuses on outward behavior superficially and demanding—of others and society alike—the elimination of anything deemed “negative,” it is self-acknowledged to have “attained enlightenment.”

However, a closer examination of its words and (re)actions reveals something else: under the guise of virtue, there lies a form of violence—one not immediately recognizable as such—manifesting as a rejection of what they label “negative,” coupled with an intense desire to erase these elements (a reflection of relative duality).

Deeper still, awareness can see through a complex, underlying entanglement: unacknowledged and unsublimated emotional energy, coupled with self-loathing or the resulting suffering, which stemming from an inability to accept or feel these energies completely.

In truth, the ego—which expands around a core sense of lack—possesses a cunning nature. It will never simply vanish unless awareness truly turns inward, thoroughly uncovers the narrative of “me,” and traces it back to its very source to dismantle it completely.

Furthermore, fully deconstructing this narrative of “me” requires confronting facts that the ego finds deeply uncomfortable—realities so unsettling that its instinct is to flee.

Consequently, this final survival strategy of the ego is often the subtlest, yet simultaneously the most deeply rooted and powerful.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

This survival strategy of the ego is, on one hand, a final resistance against reality as it truly is; yet, on the other, it serves as a spiritual challenge—a potential gateway to a final realization or insight for awareness.

In other words, this, too, is merely a temporary phenomenon that will eventually pass.

Conversely, if you find yourself viewing such ego as an enemy, or harboring a self-perception such as “I have attained enlightenment, so this doesn’t apply to me”—ask, who is it that holds this recognition?—then this is, in fact, pointing toward exactly where you need to look most closely and explore the root.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

Ultimately, when the narrative of “me” is completely dismantled—or burned away—the “me,” “mine” that once thought (on sensory, physical, and psychological levels) there is ceases to be. What remains is simply a pure presence—an openness of infinite expanse.

In that point, there is no intention or effort to preserve good part while discarding another; there is no judgment of “good” or “bad,”’nor any comparison whatsoever. While everything unfolds before eyes—arising as it must, only to vanish—there remains absolute, pure “beingness” that stands entirely unaffected by any of it.

Since awareness realizes that everything is “The Self” directly and experientialy, even the thought that “they need to change” ceases to arise. (OM 🙏)
