“What is non-duality (oneness)?”

“WHAT IS NON-DUALITY (ONENESS)?”

Non-duality (oneness) is not, for instance, a matter of choosing “good” from “good and evil.”

Rather, it is—through self-observation and self-inquiry conducted from the clarity of the innermost stillness, and free from all judgment, comparison, or definition—by seeing through the groundlessness, falsity, or unconscious attachments inherent in all dualities.

It is the pure realization of truth, of Non-duality, of Oneness as awareness dives deeper, goes far beyond sense of choice made by the “doer”—the mind (the “I,” thought, the ego)—seeing through as mentioned above, what remains is universal, unchanging, open, pure, absolute, and complete “pure presence.”

On the surface, it seems that the same individual continues to exist, feeling, thinking, acting, and experiencing anything just as before; yet, the “I”—the “doer” who supposedly controls or chooses these actions—is no longer there.

One approach involves carefully examining values or judgment of the relative dualities—such as “good vs. evil,” “right vs. wrong,” or “superior vs. inferior”—that the “I” unconsciously holds dear.

For example, if awareness inquires into the origins of these values, awareness may discover that they were simply adopted—within the environment in which “you” were raised (family, society, and era)—as strategies for emotional and physical survival.

Furthermore, if awareness examines how “immutable” these values truly are, awareness will likely see that they shift constantly depending on the era, society, or family circumstances.

From this, it becomes naturally apparent that such values cannot possibly be “absolute.”

Awareness will be aware that “you” had merely decided, unconsciously, that something was “good”—simply because it was “just the way things were.” The moment the root of such a value system is clearly revealed, that system—which awarenessunknowingly had previously clung to so tenaciously—inevitably collapses.

This means that the very conviction—the belief that “these are my values”—naturally falls apart.

In this way, the underlying narrative of “I” or “mine” as falseness is, of necessity, dismantled.

Furthermore, if awareness remains in pure presence—openness—then as the unconscious is dismantled, the limitations imposed by duality are stripped away, leading to a natural liberation into non-duality.

In other words, the narrative of “I”—the very symbol of duality as “I” and others and the world—comes to cease to exist.

By maintaining awareness of each inner movement and inquiring into its source, there eventually arrives a moment of fundamental realization: awareness perceives the narrative of “I,” as well as the unconscious attachment and identification that cause emotions, thoughts, sensations, memories, and experiences to be claimed as “mine.” In this moment—where all falsehoods are laid bare—a radical transformation (an understanding of the truth of non-duality) inevitably and directly realized with immediacy.

This process requires practice, but at the same time, far beyond understanding through the mind (the “I,” thought, the ego), it is something that occurs only here and now; it cannot happen anywhere else.

Thus, non-duality is not something that the mind (the “I,” thoughts, or the ego) can choose or grasp, even though it claim it grasped them but it is actually conceptual or intelectual understanding only within the mind; rather, it is what inevitably remains once the false “I” has vanished. (OM 🙏)
