“‘IGNORANCE’ IS NOT A PERSONAL MATTER.”
When human beings are born into this world with a physical body, they undergo the experience of physical “separation”—an experience that is unavoidable yet provokes strong anxiety.
Through subsequent experiences involving various pain and the fear of rejection, this deep-seated anxiety inevitably leads to the successive construction of an illusion: a separate “self,” “I” that must be protected.
This repeated, over and over again unknowingly, process eventually solidifies into an unyielding belief in that false “self”—which possesses no actual substance—and evolves into a powerful, unconscious conviction.
This creates a state of unawareness regarding “Pure Being” that is, “The Self”—an unavoidable condition known as “ignorance.”
It can also be described as a state of “sleepwalking” of awareness.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
This “ignorance” is by no means a personal blemish, or shortcomings, or a form of foolishness that the “I” must overcome.
It is simply a “premise” established by awareness at the very outset—a premise so simple that, inevitably, it causes various things to become invisible—in order to know “The Self” directly.
What is overlooked precisely because of this simplicity—much like the darkness at the foot of a lighthouse—is the raw reality itself: “Pure Being” as “The Self,” non-self known as pure awareness; in other words, the Truth.
Therefore, this “ignorance” can never be dispelled by merely accumulating knowledge. The veil clouding the eye of awareness is spontaneously lifted only when the illusions as facts, the way of being as it is—such as various premises and assumptions—are illuminated through the clarity of inner stillness.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
In this way, if one abides in pure awareness, maintaining some awareness inward, and thoroughly seeing through falsehoods, it will eventually become clear that there is nothing to defend as “I” or “mine,” no “Self” that must be achieved through effort, and no tasks, roles, or life purposes that must be fulfilled or realized.
In the moment awareness can see through these assumptions and beliefs as mere thoughts, that is, as falsehood, they naturally dissolve; concequently, it will be revealed that all that remains is ultimately “pure awareness”—centerless, transcending time and space, ever-present in the “here and now,” and purely witnessing everything exactly as it is, without judgement and demand at all.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Knowledge acquired secondhand can never become true self-knowledge, let alone self-awareness.
In fact, while mere “doing” and “doership” cannot lead to any insight, but when “doing,” “doer,” and “doership” effortlessly transform into a pure, impersonal act itself without any intention—it as the stillness, naturally guides awareness toward profound insights through clarity.
Identification with and attachment to the ceaseless narratives, as true, playing out in the mind are the very source of suffering; recognizing the state of self-hypnosis by these narratives marks actual awakening of awareness, which is that ignorance begins to be lifted.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
When attention is directed outward, separation, division and attachment to the “self” inevitably arise, and suffering naturally follows.
Conversely, when attention is maintained directed inward, it becomes clear that not only the experiences, thoughts, emotions, or anything else one claims as one’s own, but even external phenomena, are simply “arising” due to the interplay of causes and conditions (pratītyasamutpāda or dependent origination).
Through this realization, humility becomes a natural state of being as pure awareness, requiring neither intention nor effort.
For when falsehoods are revealed, the false “self”—which hinders natural “humility” (the embodiment of awareness)—dissipates, inevitably remaining only pure being as non-self (a state of being that embodies humility without effort of doer).
Furthermore, a profound comprehension about impersonal existence, pure being, and also about falshood of the “I” not only inevitably transforms self-knowledge but also allows compassion—born of openness—to arise naturally.
This purity of the “seer”—open and free from all judgment—is precisely what awareness is.
Resting as this pure awareness can reveal inevitably to more than just directly knowing unity; the “seer” and the “seen” melt into one (oneness), remaining only “pure being”—an impersonal love and peace that constitutes the essence, devoid of effort of a “doer.”
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
At no time is there ever a problem outside of you.
Nor is there a problem within you.
There is simply a need to see through your own, that is never another’s or the world’s, unconscious ignorance, your own identifcation with falsehood, your own confusion, through the clarity of innermost stillness. (OM 🙏)
