“The serenity of being here and now”

“THE SERENITY OF BEING HERE AND NOW”

When one exists in the here and now as pure awareness, it is felt quietly as a simple, certain sense of presence—a sense of truly being here.

It is a state of gentle openness—free from all prejudice, assumptions, or beliefs, and thus free from judgment or interpretation regarding others (including oneself), the world, or any matter whatsoever. While accepting all external and internal things of what is as raw reality, awareness does not reflexively react to internal movements of ego—such as desires or impulses—that seek to fuel or expand the narrative of “I” (such as wanting to be “someone”, indulging in fantasies, or loudly asserting ownership over achievements, thoughts, emotions, or experiences, or etc.) by doership as taking them true. Instead, awareness simply witnesses as these internal things appear and disappear within the field of consciousness.

While awareness witnesses the natural world, all things in the universe—such as the soft breeze against the skin, the rustling of leaves, the shifting flow of a river, and also the various unconscious attachments, assumptions, and beliefs (manifesting as superficial phenomena born of their current self-perception) that people adopt to shield their “selves” from unhealed pain, as they are. Yet, simultaneously, regardless of these appearances or phenomena, awareness senses the unchanging, ever-present, profound Oneness as well—the pure presence where nothing is separated or divided without comparison and judgement, or interpretation between the observer and the observed.

Thus, “peace”, “serenity”, or even “love” is not something given by others, created through collaboration, or earned through effort; it is something that is ever-present when awareness simply remains as pure presence.

“As within, so without.” (OM 🙏)
