“Not being swayed by phenomena”

“NOT BEING SWAYED BY PHENOMENA”

When we direct attention outward, we all unavoidably remain clinging to the mistaken belief that we must identify mistakes and problems of others (including “I” and “mine”) and correct or improve them, in order to protect the “I”—a symbol of separation—and the people dear to “me.” Consequently, we will remain unable to ever truly savor the unconditional pure happiness of existence or live with a peaceful heart.

On the other hand, when one begins to turn attention inward, sooner or later, one will come to realize—as Awareness—that the others and the world, which one had previously believed to be “substantial,” were in fact nothing more than projections of insubstantial “I,” which one had been unconsciously using to make judgments.

At that moment, the separation and division between “I,” others, or the world will finally vanish; Awareness realizes that there never were any mistakes to correct or human evolution to attain in the first place.

Awareness finally recognizes that everything was, and always has been, perfect just as it is.

Awareness also directly knows “transcendent love” of a spaciousness far beyond the “I’s” imagination, an unfathomable depth of compassion, and the unwavering certainty of the completeness of existence—and finally remembers (realizes) its true nature with immediacy, not in the mind as any memory of the “I” at all: “The Self,” “Pure Beingness.”

Furthermore, it finally even comprehends that purely abiding as Awareness—as “Pure Beingness”—is the very world filled with love and peace.

This is the reason it is said that “truly awakening to the fact that you are ‘The Self’ is what saves the world.”

Do not let presence be swayed by external phenomena; instead, turn attention inward.

This does not mean we must struggle or control the “I” to avoid being swayed; rather, if phenomena capture our attention, we need seeing through clearly as the fact that, it is because “there is something there that draws attention to that phenomenon, and what it is,” for example, there is some unresolved pain, or unconscious attachment there.

In this way, through the recognition—embrace—of raw reality as the fact, Awareness becomes able to feel the emotions that had previously suppressed or ignored; consequently, that attachment or emotions finally but effortlessly dissolves at its very root and so its stagnant energy can be naturally released.

In other words, the difficulty of living (manifesting as external problems) represents an unresolved spiritual challenge carried by the “I”—a challenge that must be addressed so that Awareness can realize its true nature as “The Self” and abide in it.

That is precisely why it is said by many religions or sages that, for the fundamental resolution to any external problem, one must turn inward.

This is so-called the Self-Realization, and only through it, oneness can be actually realized. (OM 🙏)
