“Be aware of the silence, the innermost stillness.”

“BE AWARE OF THE SILENCE, THE INNERMOST STILLNESS.”

Many of us are unaware of what silence or innermost stillness (the absence of mind) is like.

For example, even in a quiet place, we unconsciously accept self-centered, dogmatic, and self-righteous narratives born from various comparisons and judgments unfolding in the minds as facts. Based on these, we criticize others, demand righteousness from the world, and cling to a self-image of living an innocent and righteous life through rational control by a lot of effort. And so we keep insisting that “‘I’ know silence”and “‘I’ correctly understand the way of human being we should be,” and claiming that all problems lie externally.

In reality, this way of being is a manifestation of that, contrary to that self-perception, despite being presented with various spiritual challenges by life itself, we are unconsciously perceiving projections such as assumptions as facts. As a result, we unknowingly ignore or fail to acknowledge the facts, what is, instead being addicted to a mere noisy thought such as “people should live the right path.”

In truth, this is, mentally the most immature state of awareness, spiritually the weakest and shallowest connection to the awareness, and also the furthest from silence and innermost stillness.

Conversely, the most mentally and spiritually mature one has completely surrendered the “I” that they felt as if they needed to protect, the mind (ego) self, which means that due to non-self, they have nothing to protect. Therefore, they have no need to change people or the world, including themselves as they are, and are able to constantly embrace and even enjoy the present moment from the bottom of heart.

This is because, in addition to deeply comprehending that phenomena that are changeable in various ways due to the interaction of different states of consciousness under various self-perceptions are impermanent, they also clearly see through to the fact that The Self, the essence, is “non-self” which is completely unrelated to that, that is, completely impersonal, and rather a place where various phenomena appear and disappear, and that the consciousness itself that perceives them is The Self.

The simplest truth that we immediacy can touch through the clarity of innermost stillness is the undeniable fact that “presence is here, now.”

It is neither “‘I’ know the truth”nor “‘I’ have attained enlightenment.” Therefore, it means neither “‘I’ exist” nor “this body of ‘mine’ is here.”

It is that the purest, formless, immeasurable, omnipresent “consciousness,” without a center or fixed point : it is the simplest ultimate truth that prior to all. (OM 🙏)
