“The trickiness of ‘I am’”

“THE TRICKINESS OF ‘I AM’”

This “I am” is extremely tricky.

The true meaning of resting in “I am,” as the sage says, is not actually “I am,” but, in fact, purely “being.” It is neither any personal physical body, nor any personal thinking mind.

It is “just beingness,” completely pure, elusive, formless, and not even bound by time and space.

In fact, the sage goes on to say that once you understand “I am,” the next step is to remove the “I.”

However, because the mind (ego) doesn’t understand the trickiness of this word, it after all, remains attached to “I,” or even further strengthens its attachment, loudly claiming, “I understand the truth,” “XXX is correct,” or something like that, and keeping arguing with others.

However, if one could truly rest in “just beingness,” as a matter of fact, there would not only be extreme difficult to participate in such discussions, but no room for such discussion at all.

Thus, the mind (ego) keeps claiming its interpretation as true at any given time, without realizing that it is obsessed with thinking, striving, and improving, or even that it is unaware that it is only interprets the truth and that it is in the midst of suffering by itself.

Thus, the more ignorant one is about ultimate existence itself (note:the antonym of ignorance is not knowlede, but direct grasp)—that is, the more one is in a state of identification with the mind (ego)—the more one will tend to assert what is correct, how much one understands it, and so on.

It is the very thing that is identification with the mind (ego), which we mistakenly believe to be a personal existence.

However, these things occur because every person has their own spiritual challenges for realizing the truth through completing them one by one ; they are all inevitable, and there is no need to change anything about them, such as eliminating.

For example, instead of comparing or judging whether something was good or bad, or changing your behavior based on that judgment, see through the facts that such comparisons, judgments or definitions are meaningless (i.e., illusions), and that judging or defining everything is only a characteristic of the mind (ego), that is out of the fear the mind (ego) with separate self-recognition feels.

In fact, in reality, there is no such thing as an individual, neither the mind (ego) nor the Self.

Therefore, even if you become aware of your mind (ego) doing such things, do not see it as a sign of your personal inadequacy and do not take a victim’s role with that tragic or comic drama, in other words, do not get caught up in the story the mind (ego) tells you but remain in pure being as non-self.

Anyone is meant to react in various ways based on their perception of what is, which corresponds to their own level of awareness and that is where spiritual challenges are hidden for each one of them.

In that way, it is by becoming aware of how they are now that one truly starts to awaken spiritually. (OM 🙏)
