“Direct grasp”

“Direct grasp”

“DIRECT GRASP”

Self-realization is neither an interpretation nor a conceptual or logical understanding by the mind (ego).

It is by awareness itself, totally absent the mind (ego), a direct grasp by the non-self. The mind (ego), which is the beliefs and identification with thought, is an illusion, and because it is the illusion, it is completely incomprehensible to the mind (ego).

In other words, self-realization leaves absolutely no room for definition of having become someone such as “I am enlightened” or judgments about what is correct or who is real, which is by the mind (ego), that only reinforce the illusion of a separate self.

Therefore, it is never possible to think that one has “become enlightened” or “understands the truth”, if it is true self-realization.

Conversely, if you find yourself in such a state, you will need to thoroughly inquire its motivations, its reasons for seeking enlightenment or wanting to believe you understand the truth.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

Generally speaking, the reason we strive to become someone is because we are ashamed of as we are, that is, we believe that we are inadequate, and what’s more, if our very perception of who we are is a misperception, then what for we strive so much?

In fact, this is a manifestation of the perfection of truth, at this misperception, simultaneously, it is actually creating the possibility that “maybe it’s not so.”

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

When we surrender all efforts to become someone, driven by desires such as “wanting to attain enlightenment” or “ending suffering,” or by shame about being as we are, and when all the illusions are completely absent (surrendered), the truth will become revealed by itself.

࿓࿓࿓࿓

It is something that comprehension of truth is always deepening in depth—otherwise, it cannot be truth.

Thus, even if we directly grasp the truth once or twice, no one can live the truth perfectly, which is so profound that it is beyond our grasp, or fully understand it.

This means that at any time, unconsciously, due to remaining memories and identifications with the mind (ego), illusions such as dogmatic and self-righteous interpretations, conceptual and logical thought, which are merely mental games can replace as true as before (in other words, it means there are endlessly opportunities to become aware of the mind (ego), such as unsublimated emotional energy and preconceptions).

Therefore, continuous, careful self-observation and self-inquiry are essential.

And this is why it’s said that even self-realization is a lifelong spiritual learning.

By the way, self-observation and self-inquiry essentially require the absence of the mind (ego) as the doer—that is, the complete absence of effort or sense of doer as engaged in them.

It is also important to remember that non-duality does not mean where in denying relative duality. If you deny it, you just still remain in duality exactly the same as before. It is also nothing more than a mental game played by the mind (ego) as a deception of the ego-self.

We must not forget that non-duality transcends all of this and that the mind (ego) can never truly understand it.

Ultimately, all movement (desire, expectation, speculation, and all other thoughts, effort, emotion, etc.) ceases, and at beyond the inner stillness, the non-self will directly grasp an obvious truth, as if struck by lightning, as if scales had fallen from one’s eyes and the awareness had returned to reality.

It will be incredibly simple.

“There is no such thing as ‘I’ or ‘that person’ anywhere, as the mind (ego) thinks.”

“Meanwhile, this omnipresent awareness (non-self) as wholeness or openness—even while there is time that the subconscious mind (ego) coveres our awareness, which we are not aware of, as unconsiousness—is always present, always here, transcending all judgment and simply observing everything.”

“Now, this present moment is all there is.”

The indescribable sense of liberation and relief we savor at that moment will be something we can never savor anywhere else. (OM 🙏)
