“KNOW THYSELF”
The more one comprehends through oneself that the mind (ego) is an illusion created by expectations, assumptions, memories, and socially instilled beliefs, the more it is naturally dismantled (sublimated), and one becomes free from the illusion of identity as personal existence.
Eventually, the entire illusion of duality disappears, and only the impersonal consciousness (God) that was never separate from the beginning remains.
This is wholeness, bliss, tranquility, compassion, and happiness (not emotion or attachment, but ultimate love) itself.
At that moment, there are no individuals anywhere.
As consciousness at that moment, one sees oneself in everyone, sees everyone in oneself, and sees the unmistakable divinity in everyone.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
On the other hand, the less a person knows themselves, the more their mind (ego) clings to dogmatic and self-righteous beliefs of righteousness the mind (ego) believes, and they cling to various authorities (submission, assimilation, etc.), and as a result, further distancing themselves from opportunities to truly know themselves.
Furthermore, without even realizing that they themselves are simply unable to see the true nature of things, they use this righteousness as a weapon to criticize, condemn, and desperately try to change themselves, others, and even the world.
Sometimes, as various factors come together, this can easily lead to physical or mental violence, it can even cause physical death.
Not only do they reinforce the illusion of separation, but they also cause all kinds of conflict, growing into giant egos that group together and further divide.
They are suspicious, restless, and aggressive. They may talk about “love,” “peace,” “God,” or “truth,” but in fact, no matter how “good” they try to be, their words and reactions are exclusive and the exact opposite from such beautiful things.
And they say, “It’s because other people don’t understand righteous things we know.”
What exists here is always a relative duality, which is like “evil” blames other “evil” and “good” criticizes other “good.”
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
The more people believe that the “separation”of the individual mind (ego), as the basis of their self-perception, and even more so when they blindly believe that this baseless separation of belief is true, the more there is a tendency for them to easily group together, due to unawareness of their own fear of death (physical or spiritual death, which means also isolation) and an impulse to desperately seek security (i.e., craving).
This tendency has been very common and often observed in all eras.
This is especially evident when the fear of physical death intensifies.
During times of global economic recession, or when ideologies (nationalism, religion, etc.) inevitably emerge as a resistance to physical, mental, economic, psychological, or spiritual pressures.
What is present here is anxiety and a personal fear of death, and the resulting exclusion, no matter how much we disguise it, has never once, throughout human history, been based on “ultimate love,” as the consciousness of wholeness itself.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
The root of the problem ultimately comes down to not knowing oneself, which is ignorance (where “knowing oneself” does not mean having knowledge, but instead, comprehension of the mind (ego) and moreover, directly grasping The Self and truth, and being as the consciousness with the profoundness and spaciousness of The Self).
We can hear Jesus Christ say, “Know thyself,” “I and the Father are one,” and “Before Abraham was, I am.”
When we hear these words from a worldview of relative duality, they easily become a strong basis for the separation we see worldwide.
However, if we let go of the duality of limitations and listen to the essence of things to purely comprehend them with our hearts (openness), we can comprehend that they are the truth about non-dual, impersonal consciousness itself.
In other words, depending on whether we ourselves are purely open or closed-minded toward knowledge from outside, the content we are able to receive at that time can sometimes even be the opposite.
In this way, the depth and vastness of comprehension of what we comprehend things always changes in proportion to our own degree of openness.
In other words, the more we think we know (do), the further we become away from the truth, while in fact, we unknowingly reinforce the illusion of the mind (ego, separation, duality), as personal self.
So, instead of using your head to decide which doctrine is correct, or of mentally depending on something special that the mind (ego) worships because the mind (ego) thinks as if it gives security, always try to see through to the illusion and the essence with the clarity that comes from the innermost stillness accompanied by complete openness.
