“GOD’S WORK AND BLESSING”
Have you ever heard or seen, a writer say, “I didn’t write this story, it just inwardly came down into me one after another, as if guided by something,” a painter explain, “I didn’t intend to paint this or anything, but it just moved my brush as if I was being driven, and this painting appeared,” or Michelangelo said that, “Every block of stone has a statue inside it and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it. I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.”
All works created in this way are “God’s work” that is manifested through the artist, the person who listened to the innermost stillness.
While creating such works, they have no concept of the flow of time, no desire or expectation of the mind (ego) as a personal self, such as “I will (should) be a great artist,” and no intention of gaining anything from it.
They exist as purely impersonal beings, completely detached from the “personal self.”
Many of the works that are created in those cases are divine and continue to fascinate people for generations.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
On the other hand, many people stubbornly believe that only special people can do such “God’s works.” Also, behind this belief, there are also many who have very high expectations and hopes born from a one-sided perception, such as “If I could do such ‘God’s works,’ many people would listen to me.”
As a result, the mind (ego) that desperately seeks the meaning of existence becomes attached to that perception (interpretation, the story created by the mind (ego)), and based on that, unconsciously sets new standards of judgment, becoming more strict with one’s own words and actions that can be noticed by the manifest mind (awareness of less than about 10%).
For example, what is well done, or what is insufficient.
In this way, we live the story created by our mind (ego), get frustrated with the mind (ego)-self for things not going as we want them to, get jealous of the person who has overtaken us when the mind (ego) considers they are, and desperately try to deny that person or their work that they have accomplished that the mind believes, so that the efforts of our mind (ego) up until that point do not become “for nothing.”
However.
In the first place, the perception that “only special people can do ‘God’s works’” is too one-sided, and furthermore, the mind (ego) regards its interpretation as fact, true, and while holding unfounded expectations and hopes, it is unable to realize that it is nonsense to judge all objects by whether they meet such the criteria or not, and in addition to this narrow-mindedness and short-sightedness of the mind (ego) is the main reason that keeps people away from “God’s works.”
Have you ever realized how powerful is identification with the unconscious mind (ego) and attachment to its thoughts, story, and interpretations, of our own in those times?
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
In fact, what artists are accessing when such “God’s work” is manifested is the “inner silence”, which is exactly the same as the “innermost stillness” when we self-observe or self-inquiry.
It is in fact, accessible to everyone, and that innermost stillness is a space of “nothingness”, void, where there is the impersonal essence that far transcends the personal self, so to speak.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Everyone is born with something as gift, that lets us lose track of time and be absorbed in it, that is, leads us to timeless and spaceless that we align with the essence.
Therefore, when we are in alignment with such a gift, we are completely free from any desires or expectations of the mind (ego), and even lose sense of the “personal self”.
However, many people are unable to use this gift as a gift because the voice of the mind (ego), such as judgement or comparison, is so loud that it blocks them from being in this pure state, because they take the voice of the mind (ego) to be fact, as true.
As a result, many are driven by the various desires of the mind (ego) (all desires, whether good or bad, originate from fear), or they waste energy fighting to control the mind (ego). The energy that should be used for manifestation of gift is used in the wrong direction because of their personal self-awareness (identification with the mind (ego)).
However, this is not a simplistic story that is trapped in relative dualism, such as “good and bad,” and thereby it is also not that “if we just correct the wrong direction, that’s fine;” on the contrary, in fact, this is the very part of each person’s journey of spiritual awakening.
As a matter of fact, each one of these is a blessing.
Ultimately, there is nothing in each person’s life to lament, no matter what it is. Even misdirected energy, for example, is an incredibly valuable experience, since without it we would not be able to realize that it was “wrong direction.”
In fact, life, spiritual awakening is never fulfilled or enlightened by spiritual knowledge or the thoughts of the mind (ego).
Much less the assumption that the interpretations that the mind (ego) thinks it knows (understands) (the mind (ego) is never aware that they are interpretations) are correct can never awaken a person spiritually.
Instead, we should listen quietly, heartily, and humbly to the overflowing abundance or blessings of each of our experiences.
Ultimately, there is no such thing as a personal experience, but that’s why, paradoxically, we should treasure each of our personal experiences above all else and humbly learn from them until completion of spiritual challenge, one by one.
On the contrary, if we are disregarding or refusing to face with personal experience because sages have said there is no such thing as personal experience, how can we ever realize that there really is no such thing?
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Don’t be trapped by dogmas, concepts, ideas, knowledge, definitions, expectations, interpretations, or all else with the mind (ego).
Always be “nothing.”
And continue to learn humbly and sincerely.
Because you as impersonal essence ultimately are a blessing itself. (OM 🙏)
