“Awareness”

“Awareness”

“AWARENESS”

“Awareness” is when you suddenly realize something that you were not aware of before.

For example, “Until now, it was so natural to me that I never thought about why I do it, but when I look back on it, I realize that I simply assumed it was natural, and in fact there was no basis for it,” or “Until now, I believed I was doing it to help people, but when I think about it carefully (not actually thinking, but it’s actually unknowing self-observation and self-inquiry), I’m not actually helping people who need help, I was just trying to help my childhood self, projecting myself onto them.”

Such things are called “awareness.”

Without this type of “awareness” about ourselves, we will not deepen spiritual awakening, much less achieve ultimate enlightenment.

This is because when we gain such “awareness” is always through self-observation and self-inquiry in the innermost stillness, whether we are aware of or not, where there is no influence of judgment from the mind (ego).

In other words, at that point, we are in a state where we have unintentionally surrendered the mind (ego) to the unknown, that is, that we are selfless and egoless, which is essential for deepening spiritual awakening. And it’s also the very walking a spiritual pathless road.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

When we have a completely pure curiosity and interest in our own existence, for example, “Why do I always end up in the same situation?” or “Why does loving someone hurt? What on earth is this thing we call love?”, do not add any idea on it, and keep it simple as pure question, we spontenaously begin to observe and inquire ourselves without any intention or efforts, and eventually we come to find pure “awareness,” or universal wisdom.

Furthermore, such a selfless and egoless state naturally aligns with The Self (essence), which inevitably becomes the basis for the laws of nature to work at a level that is beyond the efforts or intentions of the mind (ego), and thereby it comes to expand for each of us the possibility of inevitably transcending duality.

Conversely, if you have been studying spiritually for years and think you have gained awareness, but no fundamental transformation occurs, in most cases, you are in a pattern of self-deception by the mind (ego).

In particular, what we often fall into in such cases is to mistake a conceptual or intellectual understanding of spiritual teachings for awareness or enlightenment.

For example, “The sage says that thoughts, emotions, and the body are not The Self. ‘I am’ is The Self. So this is who I am! I get it!” But unfortunately, this is not self-inquiry, awareness, or of course enlightenment.

It is merely a thought, a guess, an imagination in the head by the mind (ego).

In addition, in this pattern, it is also common as doer, to have collected many spiritual teachings (knowledge), or to be attached to spiritual doings, such as meditation or yoga.

At such times, we (the egos) strongly feel proud of ourselves what we have accomplished, and moreover, sometimes even secretly despise those who have not yet reached that “awareness” or a correct understanding of spiritual teachings.

In this way, the mind (ego) fools us to convince that it is a good person because it’s always making efforts with its manifest mind (less than 10% of awareness), even if it sometimes secretly despises or mocks people as long as it is not to the outside (others).

The mind (ego) always so carefuly and cleverly tries to deceive us to become someone, due to its bottomless fear by separeteness or death, or self-recognition of insufficient or imcompleteness.

However, when we are in this state of unawareness and completely identified with and attached to the mind (ego), unfortunately, no “awareness” or spontaneous transformation can occur.

This is because there is no connection with the most essential, innermost stillness, and in the end the mind (ego) is only deceiving us.

This is why sages say, “Throw away all intellectual understanding or concepts about enlightenment and spirituality.”

Nevertheless, if you come to ask yourself, “Why am I collecting so much spiritual teachings (knowledge) or keeping to meditate?” or “What is it that makes me so attached to spirituality?”, it is proof that the next door has opened, proof that you have begun to connect with the innermost stillness. That is, proof that you have begun to walk the pathless road to a precious “awareness” that only you can find.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

Become aware of “what you are doing”, not meaning of the superficial doings, but depth psychology, motivation for such doing, or the mind (ego) that is doing it.

At every opportunity, ask yourself, “Why am I doing it?”

And never try to think with your head, but go deep inside yourself to inquire yourself until finding the answer, as many times as necessary.

There will be time when you may not get a clear answer.

But be patient with yourself and continue your self-inquiry and self-observation.

Because the answer is impossible for anyone other than you to get.

Conversely, if you don’t get the answer (awareness) by yourself through the innermost stillness, how can you awaken spiritually or deepen spiritual awakening?

So continue going.

Always be kind to yourself, and with sincerity from the heart, and serve and devote not your “personal self” that is entangled with the mind (ego) or body, but The Self (God), the essence that is impersonal.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

The interesting thing about truth is that even though it is invisible, anyone can clearly grasp it when we are walking a spiritual pathless road.

It is not something that the mind (ego) thinks about, nor is it something that we guess “must be like that,” but it is something that we clearly grasp with the heart.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

There is no such thing as a God that is both transcendent and personal anywhere, except as an illusion of the mind (ego).

The “personal self (mind, ego)” is also an illusion.

Therefore, there is no one to be proud anything, even if you think that have accomplished something, and also no one to be ashamed of when something does not go well.

Do nothing, become nothing, and gain nothing.

Conversely, you should throw away once completely, at least mentally, everything that you have acquired to support yourself up until now (qualifications, knowledge, partner, family, job, money, etc.).

Of course, these can also be of great use in deepening spiritual awakening, and relationships are particularly central to spiritual challenge. However, in order to clearly clarify the fundamental differences such as “I don’t really understand what it means to identify with or be attached to the mind (ego)” or “I don’t know if these are things I’ve added to my ‘personal self’ to make up for a sense of incompleteness or insufficient in myself,” it is very meaningful to let go of mental supports completely, that is, to be alone mentally, psychologically, and physically, even if it’s only temporarily.

Furthermore, by clarifying this, you can reexamine whether you want to continue it as an essential part of your life, and in the case of relationships, the “awareness” you gain by being alone will be spontaneously able to change the relationship, allowing you to comprehend more deeply the importance of being in the present, or even transform into a way of being that naturally enhances each other’s spiritual learning.

So, do what is necessary for you now to let go of your mental supports.

Clarify what you need at the innermost stillness.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

Then, one day, you will find the immortal and omnipresent consciousness (essence) deep within you.

That is The Self, the impersonal God, your true formless form as the essence. (OM 🙏)
