“FACING ONESELF.”
In order to deepen spiritual awakening, each of us must face ourselves squarely at all times, with the courage to face the facts.
Only then can we become aware, one by one, of how the mind (ego) conveniently distorts things, how unconsciously we project the past, and so on.
In order to do this, we inevitably need to be in the innermost stillness and completely detach ourselves from the self-awareness of identification with the mind (ego).
Because with self-awareness intertwined with the mind (ego), none of us can recognize facts as facts due to the influence of the unconscious mind (ego), and none of us can even be aware of how the mind (ego) is influencing reality, let alone of such a state of ourselves.
However, for many of us, identification with the mind (ego) is so strong that facing the facts and facing oneself means exposure to pain and suffering caused by the merciless judgments of the mind (ego), and therefore, we unconsciously try to avoid that pain and by creating various excuses to postpone facing oneself.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
The basis of this way of being is the misperception of a separate, isolated, personal existence that is always filled with inadequacy and immaturity, so we continually struggle with that interpretation of this illusory self, and strive to change ourselves and the world.
We compete with others and have a necessary to overcome our weaknesses, and if we do, we are proud as if we became someone, and if we don’t, we become pessimistic in front of our weaknesses.
Or, because we have never directly grasped the transcendental ultimate love (The Self) that is true love, we try to increase our significance by serving those who are more miserable in order to compensate for our own unfulfilled self-image, or we seek someone special to be attached, such as a “soul mate,” for temporary self-affirmation and satisfaction, or in order to satisfy our desire for control, which is a reversal of our sense of self-deficiency, we need children or other vulnerable beings.
On the other hand, because we are vaguely aware of this, so we unknowingly find external problems as an excuse to avoid being aware of this fact clearly, and we become increasingly distracted and absorbed more and more in the world of drama that we create.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
This state of the mind (ego) is, so to speak, the same as addiction.
The mind (ego) is, in some respects, constantly seeking such dramatic emotional dramas, and is extremely addicted to them.
In this context, while spiritual awakening follows a similar process to recovery from addiction, on the other hand, it is not limited to the personal drama of one person, but due to required similar values in society as a whole due to the minds (ego) that are still spiritually asleep, just as the presence of enablers in addicts hinders their recovery, unconscious enabling of the majority, such as the one-sided peace that ignores the facts, and criticism or condemnation by strong desire of being goodness, or violence that justifies looting and exclusion in the name of God and love, also hinder spiritual awakening.
This unconscious enabling within the framework of the family, community, or nation is manifested as a psychological synchronization phenomenon that operates the same principle as the synchronization of metronomes, and its effects are especially noticeable in the case of the spiritually unawakened.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
If we are to break out of these endless downward loops and truly bring peace to the world or help people, we all, sooner or later, will need to face ourselves in the innermost stillness and face the facts.
Because without it, no matter how hard we try, no matter how much the mind (ego) keep to fool ourselves with convenient interpretations by the mind (ego) without realizing it, we will never be at peace inside, and of course, we will not be able to bring peace to the world, nor will we be able to essentially help people, let alone deepen our spiritual awakening, and no one will ever be able to directly grasp The Self, the ultimate love.
This The Self, the ultimate love, always exists far deeper than the mind (ego), which is misidentified as the Self, and far beyond the individual.
That is why spiritual awakening is essentially about facing oneself, and in order to be essential, it must be free from judgment by the mind (ego), and therefore requires gaining universal wisdom not through thinking, control, or effort, but through the innermost stillness.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Just as light cannot be recognized itself by light alone, we can recognize The Self, ultimate love, as its relative essence through misidentification of the mind (ego) as Self.
The Self cannot be recognized by either one alone due to its completeness, and thereby neither is good or bad within its non-duality.
In fact, all is Light, God, Ultimate Love.
If you cannot comprehend like the back of your hand this now, rather than trying to change yourself or the world, first have the courage to face yourself thoroughly.
Then become aware of the patterns of your mind (ego), of thoughts, feelings, emotions, reactions, etc., and furthermore, continue to remain as The Self by becoming aware of that “awareness” itself. (OM 🙏)
