“Know thyself.”

“Know thyself.”

“KNOW THYSELF.”

“Know thyself” means to be aware of (realize, experientially grasp, that is, transcendence of duality) the Divine Self, as the Absolute Reality, which is the essence, but it also includes knowing in detail how we perceive things and behave when we are not “it,” that is, when we are unconscious, when we identify with mind (ego) and body.

One reason for this is that it is impossible to separate from the “unconscious, mind (ego)” without becoming aware of it.

For instance, when we are identified with the mind (ego) and the body, separation is the basis of our perception, and when we see or hear egotistical words or actions, often we recognize them as separate from ourselves as “that is someone’s ego.” This allows us to maintain the illusion that we are in control of the evil ego, and at the same time, this unnatural distinction which is accompanied by some judgement, gives us a false sense of security, such as “I’m different” or “I’m okay.”

This is one of the traps of the ego, and we are unconsciously encouraging more identification with the mind (ego).

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

Self-observation to “know thyself” is basically a literal observation of the self only, but as our spiritual awakening deepens and we are able to naturally detach from the mind (ego) (observe without any judgment by the mind or ego), we will no longer distinguish between the mind (ego) as “my” or “someone’s” and we will able to observe even through others simply as “the mind (ego) workings” without any distinction between the self and others.

On the other hand, when we are in the midst of identification with the mind (ego), we particularly watch the words and actions of others, and comparing or judging them in various ways, yet we are completely indifferent to the words and actions of our own unconscious (mind, ego) during this time.

It is as if the unconscious (mind, ego, which is over 90% of consciousness while awake) does not exist in us.

Ignorance lurks here as well.

Therefore, in order to become aware of The Self as the essence, not just knowledge, it is extremely important to have a deep comprehension of the workings of the mind (ego), so that we can grasp things from more multidirectional perspectives. And in addition, we will deepen the depth of our perceptual world as we complete each spiritual assignment one by one, without turning our eyes away from ourselves or making excuses.

In this way, as we repeat self-observation so naturally that we are not even aware of it, and deepen the depth of our perceptual world, we will eventually be led to the moment when we actually become aware of The Self.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

There are no shortcuts on this journey of spiritual awakening.

None of us can move on to the next stage until we pay attention to all of the self, continue to observe the mind (ego) changing (reacting) with phenomena, and truly grasp the essence of things behind the phenomena related to those changes.

This is also proof that the unknown (God) never gives us what is convenient for the mind (ego), but offers us every opportunity to awaken to the essence.

In this way, through naturally surrendering the mind (ego) to the unknown for self-observation without judgment, we no longer intend, desire, or expect spiritual awakening, and as a result of such the absence of the doer, we inevitably develop the minimum necessary skills for the awareness of the Self, such as connection with stillness, access to its deepest depths, and concentration, which will eventually produce a moment of fruition.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

Each day, there are only opportunities for the awareness of The Self exist before us.

The unconsciousness, the workings of the mind (ego), and the self-awareness, are all intertwined to create an illusory reality.

Are you genuinely curious about what the Absolute Reality behind it is?

Are you genuinely curious about how essence and mind (ego) are intertwined in your perception?

Is it really a longing from deep within?

Or is it the desire of the mind (ego)?

Then, can you ignore the desires of the mind (ego) totally and immerse yourself in pure curiosity and longing?

Do you really love doing this so much?

Ask yourself humbly and sincerely and observe in detail. (OM 🙏)
