“Don’t be trapped by anything.”

“Don’t be trapped by anything.”

“DON’T BE TRAPPED BY ANYTHING.”

If we believe, for instance, that there is a great existence somewhere (a super-personal, yet separated from us, so-called God) and that it will rescue us from suffering, or punish us if we do wrong.

Based on that belief, if the mind (ego) sees that someone somewhere is doing evil and some bad thing happens to that someone, the mind (ego) will think with the pleasure of the ego that this is the work of God and that they were punished by that God for their evil deeds.

Likewise, when the mind (ego) sees that a little happiness has fallen on some pity soul somewhere, it too will think with the pleasures of the same ego that this is a grace from God and a sign that all of us deserve to believe in him.

Thus, the mind (ego) keeps to unknowingly interpret mere phenomena according to the stories it creates, blaming someone else, praising other one, or punishing its own ego which considers it as evil, or, conversely, taking pride in its misidentified-self that has something done.

In other words, if each of us is unaware of the assumptions as conditions we place on ourselves, whatever they may be, and if we unknowingly keep our live without any questioning of it thorough self-inquiry, our lives will be never able to become anything other than in line with them.

The known remains known, no matter how far we could go.

Where did that “known” come from?
How much inclusion, comprehension, compassion, or etc. has it really brought to us?

If that “known” were truly God, the ultimate love, then we could suddenly but undoubtedly remember our true nature through being surrounded by that love, and with that ultimate enlightenment, we would live compassionately with everything else as it is. Furthermore, those who are touched by us would be freed from their previous suffering and also would shed natural tears, aren’t they?

Being not trapped by anything means the same about the definition of each and every word.

Truth is actually tremendously difficult to verbalize because it is non-dual and far beyond mind’s (ego’s) understanding or even imagination.

Therefore, the fact is that it is expressed as limited to things that are easy to understand for those as well who are still trapped in duality.

Moreover, any talk about spiritual teachings and truths is merely the “introduction.”

In fact, if transcendence of duality actually occurs deep within, if we continue to be humble by complete surrendering the mind (ego) the same, and if we also sincerely continue to devote ourselves to the unknown, to consciousness itself, to Absolute Reality, the path to nirvana will inevitably continue to open up before us.

Therefore, even if we try to understand about non-dual truths, originally limited and expressed, without any detachment of the duality of mind (ego) and without realizing it as well, the content will become nothing but relative duality talk about what is right and what is wrong.

In other words, there would be no actual truth there at all, only mind’s (ego’s) interpretation would be left.

We must not get caught up in the definitions of each and every word (e.g., “God,” “enlightenment,” “transcendence,” etc.) that each of our mind has, and we must not let any image or concept of the mind (ego) lead our own spiritual awakening.

And it is also significant to find a point within innermost stillness, where we are not trapped by any mind’s (ego’s) desires (e.g., “I want to awaken spiritually,” “I want to let go of my ego,” or, contrary, “I want to abandon these desires,” etc.).

Whatever the desire, it is the mind (ego) that harbors it, and its “personal I” is the most powerful and yet unavoidable obstacle on the path to truth for anyone.

Therefore, it is when we are in the innermost stillness, beyond the reach of any desire, that the mind (ego) can be unintentionally but completely surrendered to the unknown and true humility is born within.

Only then will a path be opened for the truth to flow within us.

So, let the unknown remain unknown and let the unseen, yet certain, “I am that at I am” through the innermost stillness guide us with true humility. (OM 🙏)
