“POOR IN HEART.”
Poor in heart.
“Poor in heart” means that one has little heart. On the flip side, that the person’s awareness is full of mind (ego), and that there are many “shoulds” and the like.
There is no pure compassion in such a mind (ego) filled with all kinds of captivity.
Because there is no unconditional acceptance and forgiveness by heart.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Of course, anyone can reasonably be a good person. However, it is only under manifest mind (less than about 10% of consciousness,) under mind (ego) awareness, that can use that reason.
Furthermore, the action cannot go beyond the doership of the mind (ego), which is the subject of awareness at that time.
In other words, no matter how hard we try, discrimination, aversion, reaction, etc. based on various prejudices, preconceptions, assumptions, beliefs, etc., of which we are unaware, will be revealed within our subconscious, unconscious, which is beyond the control of our rational mind, which is said to be over 90% of our consciousness.
This can lead, for instance, to people who want to be compassionate, blame themselves when they find they are not a good person enough, or that same person blames other’s unconsciousness and so on.
In this way, the mind (ego) comes to be confronted with self-contradiction.
The mind (ego), however, desperately tries hard to be a good person at all times, therefore, when we are in a state of strong identification with the mind, we can hardly accept the facts as they are to the extent that we, the mind (ego) often deceives itself, “I am not such a bad person.”
However, this being confronted with self-contradiction is actually a turning point, as we can use it as an opportunity for deepening self-inquiry, or on the other hand, as we can be led to a resignation to humanity, including ourselves, due to identification with the ego and ourselves, and abandonment of the opportunity.
Thus, it seems to be true that before we are fully awakened spiritually, we are not actually as good a person as the mind (ego) expects us to be.
However, in general society, the existence of people’s unconscious mind is ignored as if it does not exist, and penalties are determined based on judgments such as “good or bad,” “done or not done,” which can be transient and easily change depending on the time period, country, generation, or person, and we are trying to control this and that of people by the manifest mind, which is less than 10% of our consciousness.
Can you see how poor in heart this is?
And it sounds utter nonsense, don’t you think?
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
On the other hand, one of the ways to become aware of the prejudices, preconceptions, assumptions, or beliefs of our own that we are unaware of and that are actually manifested in the subconscious, unconscious is through self-observation in complete stillness within, and self-inquiry is one of the way to reveal the source of them.
Through self-observation in the innermost stillness, we can become aware of our own unconscious words and actions that we were previously unaware of, and by deepening our self-inquiry from our awareness of them, we dismantle our own prejudices, preconceptions, assumptions, or beliefs one by one, and by unconditional acceptance and forgiveness of them, we can liberate ourselves from the unconsciousness of the mind (ego).
This will eventually someday, be able to be led us to nirvana, the ultimate goal of life.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
In this way, by remaining in inner complete stillness, we can detach ourselves from the mind (ego), and through unconditional acceptance and forgiveness of the unconscious by the open heart at the moment, we come to be a natural state of pure compassionate as the essence, not doership by the mind (ego).
All actions taken in this way are completely pure, with no bargaining, no expectations, no nothing.
Thus, the heart, which had been impoverished by the mind (ego), regains its inherent way of the essence of full of ultimate love and abundance. It is in fact, simultaneously mature ourselves as a person.
At this point, our awareness no longer needs to be good as the mind (ego) is attached, but only becomes present as pure awareness. (OM 🙏)
