“Simultaneous progress.”

“Simultaneous progress.”

“SIMULTANEOUS PROGRESS.”

Being in the present means that we stay our awareness neither in the future nor in the past, but in “here and now.” However, we do not direct 100% of our awareness to external phenomena or our own actions, but we continue to direct some percentage of our awareness to observe inner movements.

At this time, even if we observe the phenomena that appear before us as they are, we do not use it to judgement the words and actions of others, but it is important that we are completely devoted to ourselves instead.

Moreover, rather than always directing a certain percentage of awareness to the inner self-observation, it always fluctuates according to inner movements.

The more we become accustomed for non-judgmental self-observation at the innermost stillness, the more this simultaneous progress of inner and outer observation in the “here and now” can come to be done naturally to everyone.

Thus, the more we are able to use some percentage of our awareness to continue a relaxed and totally non-judgmental inner and outer self-observation at all times, no matter what we are doing, the less it happens that we unconsciously react to anything. In brief, we become more and more awake spiritually.

For instance, if a reactive behavior does occur, but we are constantly self-observing, so it is quicker to notice our own reactions immediately and we can also quickly get out of that state of such victim mentality.

Also, even if there is no reactive behavior, when a reactive movement occurs inwardly, we may simultaneously begin self-inquiry to clarify the source (i.e., to uncover unconscious beliefs, assumptions, etc., that led to the reaction).

This is done to avoid distracting attention from our own reaction to something, and when a more focused self-inquiry is required, we may concentratedly take on the reaction-related self-inquiry after ending other things.

In this way, the response depends on the type of reaction that occurs within us, for instance, whether it is the first reaction we are aware of, or whether it is something we noticed before and have already progressed detachment ourselves from the ego of the reaction-related by clarifying its source, or etc..

If this is the first time you are aware of the reaction or if its source is not yet clarified, do some self-inquiry to uncover its source, if possible.

Because, once the source of the reaction is clarified, we can effortlessly deepen self-acceptance or detachment from the ego and expand their scope, without having to strive for it as a doer.

In this way, by doing self-inquiry for each reaction, we will steadily but unintentionally progress in self-acceptance and detachment from the ego, and eventually even the subtle inner reactions will become sufficient to be merely aware.

Thus, the more we deepen spiritual awakening, the more contents of daily spiritual work will change like going up a spiral staircase, and the simpler we will do.

And practice will gradually transform into pure joy for us as consciousness in the non-duality as the simultaneous observer and observed. (OM 🙏)
