“The significance of going through the stages.”

“THE SIGNIFICANCE OF GOING THROUGH THE STAGES.”

In spiritual awakening, in order to truly transcend duality and reach the ultimate non-dual love, the absolute reality, and live it, the sound development of “the self, the ego,” which is the ultimate embodiment of relative duality, is essential.
However, this sound development of “self, ego,” by no means refers to the perfection of being a good person, devoid of evil, as the mind imagines. It means that we naturally take full responsibility for each and every immaturity we find within ourselves, that is, we are able to be OK with ourselves as we are.

This will naturally enable each of us to do the following

・Become a sound coping with negative emotions (shame, worthlessness, helplessness, self-hatred, etc.). Thereby end projection onto others or escape from emotions.

・Acknowledgement of the cognitive distortions and egotistical beliefs of the unconscious ego as they are, and so we can correct them in a sound way, and moreover, will be able to end excessive identification of anything on personal level and gradually breaking dependence on illusion.

・Make clarification of the boundaries between self and others (physical, psychological, spiritual, etc.). This will clarify our own spiritual responsibility.

・The end of comparisons and value judgments internally, by coming to realizes the meaninglessness of comparison between self and others, and also by totally comprehend the fact that we can never judge anything at all based only on what we can see from the outside.

・The end of interpretations of unknown or phenomena. For instance, “This is a sign from God,” or “I am a chosen one,”and so on.

This development of “self” in the realm of the mind will eventually be able to lead us to the ultimate spiritual awakening.

Because, first of all, pure self-observation at the innermost stillness, without any judgment, is essential for proper and sound awareness of current state of ourselves to occur, and moreover, if these are not developed as sound internal experiences, the natural humility (i.e., surrender the mind) that is most necessary for spiritual awakening cannot spontaneously come from within, and thereby this also makes us difficult to recognize the ego’s traps, and unconscious denial of facts, etc., are more likely to occur.

Of course, every person experiences the preliminary stages during the sound development of the self, which can lead us to true humility, so there is no need to judge our (other’s) condition at any point in time, or to judge whether it is good or bad.

However, isn’t it understandable that each of us after all needs, for instance, the clarification of the boundary between self and others before we will deeply comprehend the fact that there is no “other,” which is truth, or savor the complete disappearance of relative duality?

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

When we fail to develop our “self, ego”in a sound way, we unconsciously come to try to preserve ourselves in society through cognitive distortions such as “I’m sure I’m special.”

For instance, we may become more self (ego)-promotional, such as “how superior and special I am,” while at the same time, we may also become deeply self-absorbed, showing our superiority to others as trying to teach them one-sidedly, or, if this is not accepted as we desire, we may fall into so-called “narcissism” as if we are a martyr. And moreover, because pure self-observation is hindered by the unconscious ego in such a state, this cognitive distortion itself will naturally go unnoticed, and spiritual awakening will be very difficult, and become more likely impossible.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

There is no fixed fate for any of us, and we all consciously and unconsciously continue to create how our lives in this lifetime are, moment by moment, through the choices we make in the eternal “now” moment.

The existence of complete freedom here is the proof of the ultimate love of non-duality, and judgments by the mind such as “this choice is good and that choice is wrong” are complete nonsense.

Therefore, for instance, it is quite possible to happen that the sound development of the “self, the ego” in this lifetime does not go smoothly.

Nevertheless, in fact, it is after all impossible to reach oneness with a state of immaturity.

Oneness is about melting with all that is beyond the realm of self and others, but it is actually about unconditional love for all (including ego as self and others) that naturally arises from deep within, which is completely different from excessive empathy or codependent illusions due to the vague boundaries between self and others.

Furthermore, if we do not nurture this “self” in a sound way internally, we will not be able to comprehend, let alone acknowledge, the various struggle with ourselves , the feelings of worthlessness, self-denial, self-hatred, and where the comfort with gaining superiority over others comes from, etc. as we are. That means that, naturally, we will never be able to have the compassion or unconditional love that naturally comes from within, even for those beings who are facing these things, and at least, it would be impossible, other than a superficial pretense, or assumption.

Because, true compassion or unconditional love is not things that are in the mind, such as imaginal compassion as a performance to be shown to others as a good person.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

First and foremost, we must stop hating, disliking the self, the ego. The ego is an essential tool for spiritual awakening.

As long as we hate ourselves, we will unconsciously keep to be trapped in a completely relative duality and will keep to find all sorts of “egos to hate” all over the world of our own creation.

What we need is we are in the present while we acknowledge ourselves as we are with all the movement of our inner self, in all our interactions with others, without denying or distorting it in any way.

Trying to change the world or others while neglecting ourselves is, after all, only a sign that we ourselves are entangled in relative duality.

࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓

This is not to say that spiritual awakening cannot occur until the “self, ego” is fully developed, but rather that even if a mystical experience occurs, for instance, we should never humbly stop nurturing ourselves at any point in time, and continue to develop our internal “self, ego” in a sound way, so that we will naturally become more prepared to reach deeper level of profoundness of absolute reality.

This is why it is said that spiritual awakening is closely connected to human maturity. So, on the contrary, if we run into spirituality as an escape from ourselves, no matter how much we desire it (after all, it is only the ego’s desire by denying itself as it is), we will never reach the ultimate spiritual awakening, enlightenment, encounter the absolute reality.

As a matter of fact, no matter what point we are at, none of us all will be able to savor the next without going through the necessary stages for each of us.

Therefore, it is fine to take a rest and slow down if we need to. It should always be determined by our current state of being.

Because that “self”, in the end, creates the entire universe. (OM 🙏)
