“SELF-MANIPULATION”
Mind (ego) always manipulates itself and thereby it keeps us in a state of spiritually asleep.
If we do not become aware of this cleverness of our own mind (ego) through self-observation without judgment, we will forever keep to be deceived by this mind (ego) that dislikes the ego most, and keep to be distorted facts through projections and interpretations of the past of the mind (ego), and we will after all keep being misled within the drama only the mind (ego) sees, by what the mind (ego) keeps fearing a future that has not yet happened and its “death.”
Even so, the mind (ego) thinks it is observing itself, but in fact, it unconsciously tries to see only what the mind (ego) thinks is good, that is, only what it affirms, so the mind (ego) cannot see the facts about itself as they are.
Only the mind really cannot see itself as it is at all.
So, most of the time, the mind twists the facts by interpreting them in a way that is convenient to it (mind, ego).
Such the manipulation occurs because we ourselves are completely consumed by the identification of the self with the mind (ego), and furthermore, while we are in this identification, we are not only unable to recognize it, but contrary, we even firmly believe that we have no such identification.
This is truly self-manipulation by the mind (ego).
This is why self-observation in a state of complete detachment from the mind (ego), which is possible only in the innermost stillness, is essential for anyone to deepen spiritual awakening. Moreover, this self-observation is a constant process, not something we can do once and be done with it, or once we have cleared it, we can enjoy the distraction again.
However, this fact may be one of the reasons why the mind (ego) unconsciously tries to avoid self-observation.
Self-observation not only means the disappearance (death) of the mind (ego) for the mind (ego), but also, especially while we identify the self with the mind (ego), it tends to be painful from the influence of critical thinking and unconscious resistance caused by stubborn assumptions (the ideal self-image and of the life). And moreover, the mind (ego) has vague fears that self-observation would deprive enjoyment itself and even the meaning of enjoyment, thus, it becomes even difficult for anyone, especially if we are not used to it, to reach the innermost stillness.
However, self-observation is not a search for the rough edges. It is to become aware of our current state of being, and with that awareness, for dismantling one by one the mind (ego) itself that are merely illusions and identifications with the mind (ego), and returning ourselves to our true nature, the pure essence, by our own choice.
That is why self-observation must be impersonal, and be beyond any judgment of the mind (ego) that is possible only in the innermost stillness.
On the other hand, the mind (ego) sometimes laments that this world is heartless, that it is full of idiots, that people don’t understand the hearts, or conversely, it rejoices when it finds good thing and says that this world is not yet abandoned, but in fact, it is not only the mind (ego) itself that is not trying to comprehend our own heart (essence), but it is even secretly enjoying this drama of roller-coaster of joy and sorrow, as if it is addicted to it.
Furthermore, the mind’s (ego’s) obsession with rightness and goodness, which does not understand that most things occur in the unconscious, is only bringing out a reaction of denying from the opposite side with the same way by denying what it calls “evil,” which merely appears to the mind (ego) superficially relative to it, and the mind cannot recognize the fact that illusion elicits another illusion and only further strengthens it, and we are further consumed within such illusion.
Thus, as we ourselves are unaware of misidentification that the mind (ego) is us, and because we do not really comprehend essence yet, which is far beyond mere knowledge, all the contradictions, arrogance, or unconscious violence and so on that come from ignorance, are after all created unconsciously by the mind (ego) itself.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Know thyself.
And always be with the stillness within.
Before you react, be aware of what reaction the mind (ego) is trying to make.
This realization will inevitably cause a shift in awareness which is never able to be accomplished with control by reason, and thereby we will steadily be able to detach ourselves from the mind (ego) and moreover, purely reward to the ultimate love as paying homage to the Self, God, which is not a mere superficial act.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
Trying to be good or controlling the ego is merely self-manipulation as doership by the mind (ego).
Any thoughts, emotions, or characters, and the various things the mind thinks to have accomplished, are only self-manipulations and illusions that are only in the world of the mind (ego), and they will never be the immutable essence, formless form of the Self as absolute reality.
Starting from human life and death, the passage of time, growth or improvement as human beings, the abundance and happiness the mind thinks of being able to obtain, and all else that changes are all illusions.
We need to surrender such all illusions one by one.
The courage to do so opens the way for us to be led to the ultimate love, the immutable Self, God.
Thus, even though everything that the mind (ego) sees is in fact an illusion, we are told to always be humble because the cleverness of this mind’s (ego’s) manipulation prevents us from recognizing this illusion.
In order to be humble, we must detach this “I” mind (ego) and surrender the mind’s (ego’s) awareness of how humble we are.
Otherwise, it will be impossible for anyone to be humble.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
The truth is, until we truly awaken spiritually, none of us will ever comprehend about neither the depth of this ultimate love, nor the abundance of this non-dual world (oneness), nor liberation in total freedom as the perfection, nor absolute reality that is far beyond the mind’s (ego’s) imagination.
It means that, conversely, if we continue to be sincere with ourselves, we will surely move toward the moment when we can comprehend (reach) the ultimate love, the non-dual world where the Self resides, the absolute reality, far beyond the mere concepts and definitions of words that the mind (ego) knows.
