“SPIRITUAL AWAKENING CORRELATES WITH MATURITY OF A PERSON.”
For any of us, especially in the early stages of spiritual awakening, there is times when it is so hard to face ourselves.
This is because during this period, when identification ourselves with the mind (ego) and body is particularly strong, it is almost impossible to observe ourselves without any judgment, and thereby we are subjected to the most severe (self-)criticism by judgment of that mind in the world.
Nevertheless, through such experiences, we can learn to see “human beings,” including ourselves, beyond judgment of “good and bad”.
Thus, spiritual awakening is closely correlated to our maturity as a person.
In this sense, those who are not yet ready to face themselves head-on and are engaged in spirituality to escape from themselves will not actually deepen any spiritual awakening, but will remain immature as a person and drown in self-deception in their “pretend spirituality.”
For instance, people in that state are often obsessed with some qualification or concept related to spirituality and stick to “what they understand = right.” For otherwise they would have to face their own low self-esteem that that recognition covers.
In other words, if spiritual awakening is not a part of our maturity as a person, it is a sign that we are somehow looking away from ourselves, and namely, it means that it will be necessary to take a sincere look at ourselves as many times as necessary.
Also, those who are aware, for instance, that “I am enlightened,” “I have transcended and I am okay now,” or “I have accomplished some spiritual things,” must be very careful.
This is because that’s ego’s trap, it is always by the manifest mind as separated individual mind (ego) that is aware of anything about oneself, and never by the Self, the one Consciousness that is connected to everything.
Conversely, where is the reason why the Self, the Consciousness as wholeness must be aware of such things?
In other words, when we have such awareness, we have actually stopped becoming mature as a person and also stopped deepening spiritual awakening, no matter what steps we have previously taken.
Also, while we deepen spiritual awakening, when we find ourselves reacting with something, it is a sign that we come to the stage of confronting the source of the reaction, and we should gratefully take that gift as a notification from Higher-Self, and take the time to face ourselves more careful than ever.
That’s what it is as step of path of spiritual awakening that only each of us can walk, and there is no need to compare ourselves to anyone else.
Of course, there is no need to be ashamed of it, or even to thank someone else as separated others. Instead, we should be grateful towards the Self, the Consciousness for the fact that we have become aware of it, the fact that there is system of notification for deepening spiritual awakening, and so on.
Thus, a person who is truly deepening spiritual awakening will never stop there, no matter where point may be, but will always be in the flow of learning, even if there is a moment when they comprehend something deeply that was vague until then and realize, “Oh, so this is what it means.”
In other words, no matter what stage of spiritual awakening we are at, if we are not aware with awareness (i,e., unless continuing to detach from the ego) that there is nothing that guarantees to any spiritual awakening up to that point, or at that point, or even after that point, it is extremely easy for any of us to forget humility because of our own unconscious ego.
To forget humility in that way means to stop spiritual awakening.

There is no end to spiritual awakening. Just as there is no end to our maturation as human beings.
There is no beginning and no end, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. (OM 🙏)
