“WHEN SUFFERING IS BORN AND WHEN IT DISAPPEARS.”
Suffering is born when we cannot accept facts as they are.
When we live a mind-centered life instead of the heart-centered, we lose the ‘now’ by predicting, expecting, and fantasizing about the future, and thereby become even more fixated on predictions, expectations, and fantasies we create.
At the root of this is identification ourselves with the mind, ego, or body. The stronger this identification with other than the essence, the stronger the unconscious cognitive bias, and at the same time, the stronger the rejection of facts tends to be.
For instance, facts may feel harsh or they may be perceived as unacceptably painful.
Thus, when the reality is different from the predicted future image, expectation, or fantasy, we create more suffering by resisting the facts that they cannot change.
For instance, “It can’t be true,” “I am different from that (I don’t fit that condition),” “I can do XXX, so I am fine,” “But it means XXX, so this must be wrong (I am not wrong),” “There must be another meaning to this,” and so on. Unconscious resistance continues.
This is a psychological self-defense reaction, but this self is actually the mind or ego, and it is a natural reaction that occurs when there is identification with them. It’s because when we identify ourselves with anything other than the essence, the fact that appeared in front of us shakes the very foundation of our mind-centered way of being.
However, even if we know about these reactions beforehand, it is usually difficult to recognize that we are reacting to something when we are immersed in a state of strong identification with the mind or ego.
In that case, anyway, the first thing you need to do is when you feel that you are out of heart, get away from the ego.
Then you can go into the innermost stillness and clarify what cognitive biases you were causing, what were the facts you did not want to see, etc.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
In other words, when we are in suffering, we are actually living a mind-centered life, and there are some predictions, expectations, fantasies, factual denials based on them, resistance, and further deep inside, identification with the mind, ego, and body.
What is needed here is to accept facts as facts. Even if we do not know exactly what it is and even vague, such as living a mind-centered life, resisting something that cannot be changed, or identifying with something other than our true nature, or whatsoever, we must accept it just as a fact.
By humbly acknowledging the powerlessness of the ego as well as the mind to the unchangeable ‘now,’ surrendering all resistance, and accepting it as it is, we can naturally enter the next stage.
When we are able to accept the facts as they are, the suffering created by all kinds of unconscious resistance will naturally disappear.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
In some cases, In order to accept the facts as they are, there may be a necessary to deal with the situation by first changing the physical environment or leaving the place where the suffering occurs. If you are not sure what you need ‘right now,’ try something anyway. By trying something, you will see whether it fits or not.
࿓࿓࿓࿓࿓
It’s important to…
● Don’t resist the ‘now’ no matter what happens. → Trust what higher-self always leads you to the essence.
●Do not judge or try to change yourself of the ‘now,’ but gratefully savor yourself as you are. → Do not try to be someone other than who you are now.
●Live carefully in the ‘now.’ (OM 🙏)
